Istiaque Ahmed received academic training in architecture and urbanism from leading global institutions consistently ranked among the top tiers. He holds a strong passion for architecture grounded in research-driven practice. In teaching, he follows a Critical Theory–based teaching philosophy that encourages students to interrogate dominant paradigms, examine power relations shaping spatial production, and understand architecture as a socio-cultural practice. As a researcher, Istiaque has published multiple first-author research articles in high-impact journals ranked among the top 10 in the fields of architecture and urban studies (SCImago Journal Rank–SJR). His practice is intentionally selective, concentrating on complex, research-driven design projects. Istiaque was a member of the Study and Design team for the Arcadia Education Project by Saif Ul Haque Sthapati (SHS), which received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2019.
