Dr. Forkan Sarker is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Textile Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology. He finished his PhD degree in Materials from the University of Manchester in 2019 under the supervision of Professor Prasad Potluri. His PhD degree was awarded under the most prestigious Scholarship in the UK for overseas students( Commonwealth Scholarship). Before doing his PhD at Manchester University Dr Sarker did his MSc in Advanced Materials from the University of Bolton, the UK under the supervision of Professor Baljinder Kandola. He was also awarded another prestigious United Nations Fellowship to perform his MSc degree in the UK. Dr Sarker received his bachelor degree in Textile Technology with major in Apparel Technology from University of Dhaka in 2010. Dr Sarker is the inventor of novel jute fibre architecture with highly individualised jute single fibre and improved fibre packing that is suitable for manufacturing high-performance natural fibre composites. Besides this invention, Dr Sarker is also the first contributor in the strengthening of jute fibre using graphene materials. Dr Sarker is currently working in the area of Biocomposites, Fire protection of Biocomposites, inventing new fibre architecture from plant-based natural fibre.
