Md. Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan, PhD

Dr. Muhammad Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Textile Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Bangladesh. Prior to that, he worked successfully as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in the same department at DUET after joining as a Lecturer in 2006. Dr. Bhuiyan received his Ph.D. from RMIT University, Australia, specializing in protective clothing systems. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology and received MPhil degree in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His research focuses on performance textiles, fiber-reinforced composites, sustainable material processing, textile coloration, and wastewater management. He also works on sustainable textile processing and analysis of the environmental impact of an apparel life cycle, focusing on the environmental impact reduction opportunities in the apparel circular economy to provide scientific data for apparel consumption and disposal systems in developing countries like Bangladesh. He published several scientific articles in internationally reputed journals, with high impact and prestigious editorials. He has served as an Editorial Board Member, Session Chair and Co-chair and Reviewer in reputed international conferences and journals. Dr. Bhuiyan is a founder member of the Society of Textile Research and Innovation, Bangladesh. He is also a member of The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and The Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET), Bangladesh.
