Professor Dr. Mohammad Asaduzzaman Chowdhury is an internationally recognized scientist in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering, whose research has significantly advanced the fields of 2D nanomaterials, layered ceramics, surface engineering, and energy storage technologies. About 25 years, he has pioneered studies on graphene, borophene, MAX phases, MXenes, semiconductor nanostructures, and hybrid functional composites, with a particular emphasis on thin film coatings, tribological interfaces, electrochemical performance, and bandgap engineering. His contributions include groundbreaking work on self-generated boron-based MAX ceramics, electrochemical exfoliation for large-bandgap graphene, and high-performance layered coatings, enabling improved efficiency in lithium- and magnesium-ion batteries, hydrogen storage catalysts, and next-generation protective materials. He has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications, exceeding 7,000 citations, with a high scholarly impact recognized through four consecutive years (2022–2025) of inclusion in the Stanford–Elsevier Top 2% Scientists Worldwide ranking, placing him among the most influential researchers in mechanical and materials engineering. His scientific influence is reinforced by his role as Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio) and Academic Editor of PLOS ONE, along with Guest Editorship of multiple international special issues, where he shapes global research directions in advanced materials and nanotechnology. A passionate mentor, he has successfully supervised 5 PhD and 43 MSc/M.Engg researchers, many of whom now contribute internationally to biomedical materials, clean energy systems, computational materials design, semiconductor development, and industrial nanotechnology. He has authored and edited several widely referenced academic books and chapters focusing on composite mechanics, biosensing materials, hydrogen peroxide detection, shape memory alloys, and frictional interfaces, demonstrating his breadth of expertise and scholarly leadership. His research has also been featured in Nature Portfolio and WHO-recognized works, reflecting his capacity to bridge engineering science with human-centered innovation. As a globally certified scientist—Certified Materials Professional (CMatP), Materials Australia, and Registered Scientist (RSci), Royal Society of Chemistry, UK—Professor Chowdhury continues to expand the scientific frontier, contributing new knowledge that unites fundamental materials physics, practical engineering solutions, and sustainable technological development.
