Farah Deeba, PhD

Professor, Department of Physics, DUET, Gazipur

Dr. Farah Deeba is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, Bangladesh. She has been appointed as a regular Associate of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy, for the period 2026–2032. Dr. Deeba completed her Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience at the University of Sydney, Australia, where she received multiple accolades, including the University of Sydney International Scholarship and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Interactive Brain Function Postgraduate Prize. She holds an M.Sc. and B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her research focuses on using mathematical models to understand neurological disorders, particularly seizures. Dr. Deeba has authored several papers, including *Unified Dynamics of Interictal Events and Absence Seizures* (Physical Review E, 2019), *Effects of the Physiological Parameter Evolution on the Dynamics of Tonic-Clonic Seizures* (PLoS One, 2020), and *Dependence of Absence Seizure Dynamics on Physiological Parameter Evolution* (Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2018). Additionally, she explores dusty plasma physics, investigating the interactions of particles in plasma environments. Dr. Deeba has supervised one M.Sc. student and is currently supervising one M.Phil. and one Ph.D. student, guiding them through their advanced research projects. As a committed researcher and educator, she aims to bridge the fields of physics and neuroscience, contributing to advancements in both theoretical and applied sciences.
