Farah Deeba, PhD

Farah Deeba is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, Bangladesh. She is also selected as a regular Associate of the Abdus Salam International Centre of Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy from 2026 to 2032. She received her doctorate in Computational Neuroscience from the Department of Physics, The University of Sydney, Australia. During her Ph. D, along with the University of Sydney International Scholarship, she was also awarded the Faculty of Science Completion Scholarship (2018), the USYD Postgraduate Research Support Scheme (PRSS, 2017), the Australian Research Council (ARC ) Centre of Excellence for Interactive Brain Function & Laureate Postgraduate Prize (2017), and ARC Centre of Excellence for Interactive Brain Function Early Career Research Travel Award (2016) during her Ph.D. She received her M.Sc. and B. Sc (Honours) in Physics from the Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her key publications include: Unified dynamics of interictal events and absence seizures (PRE, 2019), Effects of the physiological parameter evolution on the dynamics of tonic-clonic seizure (PLoS One, 2020) and Dependence of absence seizure dynamics on physiological parameter evolution (JTB,2018). Her current research interests include neurological disorders like seizures and dusty plasma physics.
