Md. Jahidul Islam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, since 2 November 2025. He initially joined DUET as a Lecturer in May, 2024, before being promoted to Assistant Professor. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), completing his M.Sc. in 2022. He began his professional career as an Assistant Engineer at the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), gaining practical engineering experience prior to his academic career. Since joining DUET, he has been actively involved in teaching, research, and mentoring students in materials and metallurgical engineering. His research interests encompass materials science, with a focus on nanomaterials, thin films, and renewable energy applications, particularly solar cells. He also specializes in computational modeling using Density Functional Theory (DFT) to investigate the structural, electronic, and optical properties of advanced materials.
