Lecturer, Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, DUET, Gazipur

Md. Jewel Rana is currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, Bangladesh, a position he has held since February 2026. He is pursuing his M.Sc. in Engineering, specializing in Materials Engineering, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at DUET, which he began in 2025. He completed his B.Sc. in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from DUET in 2025 and graduated with First Class First position. He was nominated for the University Gold Medal award. His research interests focus on advanced materials, nanomaterials and nanoparticles, composite materials, and renewable energy technologies. He is committed to advancing materials and metallurgical engineering through innovative research and collaborative efforts, with particular emphasis on developing sustainable solutions to contemporary energy challenges. His undergraduate research centered on titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles, where he worked on enhancing photocatalytic and antibacterial performance through band gap reduction via doping. He possesses strong characterization and data analysis skills, including XRD, SEM, UV-Vis, and EDX techniques, and is proficient in software tools such as X’Pert HighScore and OriginLab. Beyond his research and academic responsibilities, he is passionate about mentoring students and actively supports them in their undergraduate coursework and engineering project development.
